Beginnings

Like I stated in an earlier blog, I bought a book (before Alyssa was pregnant) called “A Grandparent’s Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own Words.” I was going to have my parents fill it out, but now I guess it’s my turn to be the grandparent. The following questions are from the book, and in some of my future blogging I will answer more. If I bore anyone, I’m sorry.

Your full given name, the date and place of your birth:
Mitzi Leigh Geer, born November 11, 1967 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at Druid City Hospital, now DCH Regional Medical Center where Alyssa and Christian were also born.

Your spouse’s full given name, the date and place of his birth:
Albert Cardona, born January 10, 1966 in Los Angeles, California at the county hospital, the one pictured in the opening scene of General Hospital.

Your children’s full given names, the dates and places of their births:
Alyssa Beck Cardona, born June 14, 1988 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at DCH Regional Medical Center, formerly known as Druid city Hospital. Alyssa was born via emergency c-section.

Christian Albert Cardona, born May 25, 1993 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at DCH Regional Medical Center. We didn’t agree on a name until 2 days before he was born.

Nicholas Richard Cardona, born December 20, 1994 in Temple, Texas at Scott and White Medical Center. He was actually due on Christmas day, and we were bummed that we had already used up the name Christian. We agreed on his name 3 days before he was born and it didn’t have anything to do with Santa Claus. P.S. Don’t be like my grandmother and call him Nicky Ricky Dicky.

Your parent’s full given names, the dates and places of their births:
Katherine Anne Hopkins, born February 17, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas on Fort Sam Houston at Brooke Army Medical Center. Her father was a POW in WWII until she was 1 ½ years old.

Joseph Richard Geer, born December 1, 1940 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at home. His dad didn’t file his birth certificate until he was over a year old. I guess he was waiting to see if he wanted to keep him.

Your spouse’s parent’s full given names, the dates and places of their births:
Carlos Alberto Cardona, born January 11, 1943 in Guatamala.

Eloisa Aldana, born October 16, 1938 in Guatamala.

The names of your siblings, the dates and places of their births:
Joseph Richard Geer Jr., born July 31,1969 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at Druid City Hospital 12 weeks premature and weighing only 3 lbs.

Jessica Louise Carr, born January 6, 1977 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at Druid City Hospital. She was my first “real” baby doll.

Walter Cardona, born April 5, 1970 in Los Angeles, California.

The names of your maternal grandparents, the dates and places of their births:
Walter Garrison Hopkins Jr., born June 18, 1916 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Doris Blanche Carter (Logan’s middle name), born September 20, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas.

The names of your paternal grandparents, the dates and places of their births:
William Oscar Geer, born April 22, 1883 in Pickens County, Alabama.

Ella Beck, born August 10, 1902 in Coker, Alabama.
